Universal Periodic Review of Andorra
Statement by Australia
Australia commends Andorra on its strong commitment to the protection and promotion of human rights, and for its ongoing engagement with the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process. Australia recognises that Andorra has a strong human rights framework that values the integrity of the person. We welcome Andorra’s efforts to address the concerns raised during its first cycle UPR in 2010.
Australia praises Andorra’s efforts to address gender-based and domestic violence, including through the introduction of domestic legislation. Australia recommends that Andorra continue its efforts to prevent gender-based and domestic violence and to protect and support victims.
Australia also commends Andorra for its efforts to protect the rights of children. Australia recommends that Andorra continue to ensure strong legislative protections for children, including by increasing the minimum age of marriage to 18.
