COVID-19: Returning to Australia or Stranded Overseas

As at 9pm AEDT, Friday 20 March 2020, Australia is closing its borders to all non-citizens and non-residents. Exceptions are only for Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate family, including spouses, legal guardians and dependants.

Anyone arriving in Australia has to undertake a mandatory 14-day quarantine at designated facilities in their port of arrival. Quarantine arrangements may vary for each state/territory. Restrictions are subject to change. Visit the Department of Home Affairs website and Smartraveller’s COVID-19: Arriving home page for further information.
