All Other Passport Appointments

Appointments for passport services can only be made by sending an email to: [email protected] Our online booking system is closed. Appointments are held Monday to Friday (Friday mornings only) in Geneva. There is currently a 1-2 week waiting time for appointments.

To schedule an appointment please provide the following in your email:

  1. In the subject line of your email: Last name, First Name – Passport Appointment
  2. The number of passports you are requiring (include age of children) and type of passport (e.g., Adult Simplified Renewal, Adult First, Child First, Child Renewal, Adult/Child Name Change, Adult/Child Lost/Stolen/Damaged)
  3. Contact phone number and email address
  4. The names of parents/applicants attending the appointment
  5. Preferred ‘days’ and ‘times’ (morning/afternoon) and where you will be arriving from
  6. If you require an urgent appointment - provide specific details of your urgency (e.g., evidence of confirmed travel plans).

Applying for an Australian passport

Follow the steps below to apply for or renew your Australian passport in Switzerland.

Step-by-Step Instructions


1.  Complete and print your application form online at the global website


Login or create an account. You will be automatically directed to the correct form by answering the questions. For information on passport applications visit the Australian Passport Office website.


2.  Print, Sign and Date the application form 









- Use A4 size paper to print your application form.  Ensure the top or bottom of the pages are not cut off when printing (adjust your printer settings - look for Shrink to Fit or Fit to Page settings).

- The signature that appears on your passport MUST be signed inside the white box on the application. Reprint and sign again if you sign outside the box.

- Check there are no alterations to signatures and dates. Application forms containing overwritten dates or signatures cannot be accepted.  Please reprint and sign a new page.

- When using the PC8 form ensure all sections are signed (guarantor, parents, witness & child) before your interview. If no parental consent is required ensure the empty page is still presented as part of your application.

- Ensure the parental consent page (Page 4) is completed correctly before printing and signing. Specifically, ensure that the names in sections 13B and 14B are not left blank. Regardless of whether the parent has changed their name, these sections should be completed. Incorrectly executed parental consent will not be accepted.

- Parental consent requires that signatures are witnessed by a suitable witness - please read the declaration carefully before signing and ensure  that both parents sign in the presence of the witness. Passport staff cannot witness signatures. The witness must then sign, add their name and a contact phone number after the parent signs their consent.

3.  Obtain Two Passport Photos


- Carefully check the photo specifications on the APO website as poor quality photos are the most common reason an application cannot be accepted or is rejected after your appointment.

  • Photos that do not meet the below requirements will result in a delay in the processing of your passport.
  • Two identical, good quality colour glossy prints that are printed at the highest resolution, less than six months old, produced using dye sublimation, not from an inkjet printer. (A high-resolution JPEG digital image - the minimum photo size requirement is (416w x 536h pixels) otherwise the image loses resolution and becomes blurry and unsuitable for use).

  • In addition to the two printed photos, we strongly recommend providing the digital format of your photos to accompany your application – you can send these to us via emali before your appointment.


4.  Prepare the supporting documents to accompany your application form ready for your appointment








We strongly recommend using the checklists and information sheets below to help you ensure that you have ALL of the required documents ready for your appointment

All supporting documents must be originals. We cannot accept copies.

Adult simplified renewal (Form PC7, 1 page)

Adult all other (Form PC8, 5 pages)

Child (Form PC8, 5 pages)

Name Change (Form PC8, 5 pages)

Replace a Seriously Damaged, Lost, Stolen or Emergency Passport (Form PC8, 5 pages)

Guarantor/Referee (only required when using the PC8 form)

Original documents located in Australia or another Country

Lodging consent in Australia or another Country


5. Request an appointment to lodge your application. Please see the ‘Passport Appointments’ information at the top of this page for information on how to book an appointment.

Our online booking system is CLOSED.

From 1 July 2015, all passport applications must be lodged in person. There are no exceptions to this rule, even if you have lodged by mail in the past or live far from our office.

For Child First passports, Child Emergency passports and all child applications from neigbouring countries BOTH parents are required at the appointment.

For Child Renewal passports, we strongly recommend both parents attend the appointment. If one parent is unable to attend the appointment then they must be contactable by phone in the 24 hours after the appointment.

  • Children aged 16-17 years must attend the appointment with their parents
  • Children aged 0-15 years are not required to attend the appointment.

6.  Allow up to 8 weeks to receive your new passport (not including transit and postage times)





You can keep your current passport valid while your new one is being processed. Please advise the passports officer at the beginning of your appointment that you would like to retain your passport for travel. Otherwise, the passport will be cut/cancelled and returned to you at the time you lodge.

Mailed within Switzerland: The new passport will be sent to you by registered mail to a Swiss address only (home, work or friend).  A postage fee applies (CHF6.30).

Collect in Geneva: You will be notified by email when the new passport is ready and to make an appointment to collect. 

We are unable to post passports outside of Switzerland.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) uses third-party software (Setmore) to manage the Consulate-General's appointments.
