Job Description

The Australian Permanent Mission and Consulate-General in Geneva, Switzerland is seeking a Human Resources, Training and Visits Officer.  The position will provide administrative services and advice on human resources, travel and high-level visits in support of the Australian Permanent Mission and Consulate-General in Geneva.    

The selection for this position will be based on merit and judged against the following Selection Criterion:

Duty Statement

The key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:


  • Provide advice on and ensure compliance with Swiss social insurances, welfare, taxation and employment law for locally engaged staff
  • Provide advice on and ensure compliance with Swiss laws on Domestic staff
  • Administer Domestic assistance employment issues and prepare salary related payments
  • Administer all LES recruitment process for the mission, ensuring compliance with Swiss labour law
  • Provide advice to senior management on performance management issues
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for high level ministerial visits: arrange accommodation and ground transport; negotiate and pre-empt potential problems with federal police, airport staff; establish budgets, process payments and prepare financial reporting
  • Manage and monitor LES learning and development targets
  • Administer operations of LES pension fund;
  • Prepare the monthly and annual bank reconciliation reports


  1. Excellent organizational skills
  2. Good understanding of local labour laws
  3. Be a self-starter
  4. Fluent in English and French - both spoken and written
  5. Good IT skills using mainly Microsoft programs required
  6. Knowledge of SAP financial program
