Duties include:

• catering for the Ambassadors’ official and casual meals/functions. Ability to prepare a variety of innovative and nutritionally balanced meals, including modern Australian, Asian, fusion and special dietary meals.

• administrative support including: preparation of menus; supervision of personnel involved in official functions; management of a functions budget; maintaining records of menus and dietary requirements.

• Applicants must:
 - be organised, flexible, friendly and personable; be highly motivated and have the ability to work independently; perform effectively under pressure; be prepared to source ingredients and when needed outside staff; be motivated to develop their cooking skills; communicate effectively in English (French would be an advantage but is not essential).
 - Conditions: annual gross salary CHF48,060;

- Additional allowances: transport (approx. CHF700 per year), uniform (CHF350 per year on production of receipts), medical insurance fully paid by the employers.

- Compulsory swiss social insurance: shared between the employee and the employers (approx. CHF370 to CHF500 per month deducted from the gross salary) 

- full time hours (45 hours per week); live-in position (accommodation provided)..

Summary of Duties
Prepare well-constructed, seasonal, innovative and nutritionally balanced menus. Discuss menu options, including costs, with Ambassadors and their spouses. Prepare special dietary menus when required. Maintain records of all menus, guests and their dietary requirements. Be responsible for all representational food shopping for the two official residences. Keep within the budget available for each representational function. Prepare business or buffet lunches, dinners, breakfast buffets, morning/afternoon teas or canapés for receptions as required. Prepare food as contributions/gifts for non-residence functions. It is expected that all food be made in house. Be prepared to work outside normal business hours and on occasion weekends. Any extra hours worked will be given in lieu. Work with household staff to create a safe and productive kitchen environment where strict hygiene standards are met. Liaise with outside contract staff for major functions as required.

Employment Conditions
The cook is the personal employee of the Ambassador UN and has contractual obligations directly to the Ambassador UN and the Ambassador WTO. The cook is not a member of the staff of the Missions and has different conditions and terms of employment. The successful applicant must meet the employment criteria of the Swiss Ordinance for Entry, Stay and Work for Private Household Employees of Individual Beneficiaries of Privileges, Immunities and Facilities (PHEO – Chapter 3, articles 9 and 11).
