Marriage in Switzerland
Australian citizens wishing to get married in Switzerland are requested to contact the local registry office (Zivilstandsamt/l’office de l’état civil /l’ufficio dello stato civile) where they plan to get married to obtain authorisation, and a list of documents required.
All documents must be original, and dated less than six months old. A notarised translation is normally required for any documents not in one of the three official Swiss languages (French, Germand and Italian).
Expect to provide:
1. Birth Certificate
2. Proof of Swiss nationality, or proof of residency if you do not have Swiss nationality
3. Divorce/Death certificate (if applicable)
4. Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage (CNI)

Please bring the following documents to your appointment:
-Completed application form (not signed).
-Passport (or similar identity documents (such as a birth certificate) but these must be accompanied by a form of photo identification.
-Original divorce/death certificate, if applicable.
Supporting documents, as listed above, must also be provided for the intended spouse.
